My favorite books of 2015
I have read so many great books in 2015, so it was really hard to make a list of my favorite books of 2015, but I did give it a try! So, in no particular order, here are my ten favorites of the year.
Fate of Ten
I love the Lorien Legacies (I am number Four) so I can’t wait for the next novel in the series. This one, part six in the series, came a bit later than usual, so it was September before I could finally read it. It was even better than I had imagined and now I am waiting for part seven, which will be published in 2016.
Love Like Crazy
This novel came as quite a surprise. When I was buying “I’ll give you the sun”, Amazon showed me this cover and I liked it and bought it because of the cover (how can I resist a VW van?) and the title. I had no idea that the novel was self-published. Well, that was no issue here, because I finished reading it in no time and loved it. Great YA romance, so if you like the genre, go check it out.
I’ll give you the sun
Another YA novel. A lovely story about a twin brother and sister who are both sharing a part of their story, but at a different point in time. Of course it all comes together in the end, but I had no idea how that would ever happen. Things can change in a heartbeat, that’s for sure.
Karin Slaughter is my favorite thriller author. In fact, hers are the only ones I have to read. I used to read many thrillers, but then I got fed up with the genre. Except for Karin Slaughter. I love her Sara Linton and Will Trent series, but this one was a stand-alone. It was different, but just as good. Karin is still the queen of suspense.
Nighttrain to Lisbon
A book I wouldn’t have picked up myself, but my mother recommended it to me and I liked it a lot. It’s not the kind of book I would recommend to a pregnant lady, because it contains difficult words and lots of philosophical topics. I do like that in a book, when written properly. So I loved this one for the words and sentences mostly, the story itself came second for me.
Stray, the first part of the Shifters series, was sitting on my bookshelf for a couple of years already. I have no idea why I didn’t read it earlier, because it was awesome. Some parts are pretty gross and probably offensive for some readers, but I liked that about these series. No helpless main character, but a kick ass female protagonist! That was quite refreshing.
Summer by the Sea
Family problems, crazy sisters and a whole lot of romance in a little cottage by the sea. A perfect summer read. Do I need to say more?
Another book that has been sitting on my shelf for quite a while. I was really curious as I never really understand fangirls and fanboys. So it was a fascinating topic. I really liked the story. Maybe nothing really exciting happened, but I liked to read about what was going on in Cath’s head a lot and I didn’t want the book to end.
Close My Eyes
Once again a novel that wasn’t the best pick for a pregnant woman. Still it was a very mysterious and exciting book. The female main character has lost her daughter at the end of her pregnancy and she was broken. In fact, she still is. One day a woman comes to her house and tells her that her baby might still be alive somewhere. Her husband tells her to let it go, because he has seen that their baby is dead, but when the mysterious woman dies in what seems to be a suspicious accident a couple of days later, she does not want to let go. I can imagine why she would want to know what happened all these years ago. What happens next is just madness.
I actually loved the whole bloodlines series a lot. It gave me a different view on both Sidney and Adrian. I didn’t like them very much when I was reading Vampire Academy, because of Rose and Dimitri, but in these series they were awesome. I am pretty sure that I will read this book again one day.
